Pre-Chindang Festival celebrated

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: Aka and Miji communities residing in the state capital celebrated pre-Chingdang festival at Sidhartha Hall, Itanagar today.

Extending the festival greeting to the Aka and Miji communities on the occasion as Chief Guest, Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Jalley Sonam appreciated the Aka and Miji Capital Complex Welfare Committee for organizing the festival.

He appealed both the communities to preserve and promote own tradition and customs and particularly suggested the organizing committee to celebrate the Chindang festival in a grand way in the state capital in near future with the involvement of Aka and Miji communities residing in their main homeland.

Further, briefing on the limited job opportunities in private and government sectors in the state and importance of agriculture and horticulture in the tribal communities, he advised the youth to take up Horticulture and Agricultural activities in their respective area.

He assured to extend all possible help to the Aka and Miji communities living in the state capital and urged them to remain unite for the development of the community. Further, he advised the student of Aka and Miji communities studying in the state capital to devote in their studies and spread the importance of education to the rural people of their respective community.

Meanwhile, being a worker’s leader, Sonam highlighted the benefits of the workers provided by the APB&OCWWB and appealed the gathering to convey the message of the board to the worker community of the society and also appealed talent artist of the community to participate in the voice of Arunachal Contest.

Guest of Honour, Member of Steering Committee (State CAMPA) Dept. of Forest and Environment Tungri Effa also appreciated the organizing committee and assured to extend all possible help to the Aka and Miji Communities.

He donated a sum of Rs. 20,000 to the Pre-Chandang organizing committee, Itanagar.

Earlier, Queen Nimachow briefed on the Mythology of the Chingang festival.

On the occasion, Aka and Miji cultural teams from various sectors of the state capital presented traditional and other cultural items.

Civil societies urged to join hand to protect wildlife

ITANAGAR, Oct 9:  B S Sajwan, PCCF, head of forest force today called upon all civil societies to join hand with the forest department to protect the precious wildlife in Arunachal Pradesh.

Addressing the valedictory function of the 56th wildlife week observation at Biological Part, Itanagar yesterday, Sajwan, who is also principal secretary, department of environment and forest, said rich biodiversity including wildlife of the state should be conserved at any cost. He appealed one and all including Govt officials and students to take a pledge to protect wildlife. He further said it is not possible for forest department alone to save and protect wildlife without cooperation of civil societies. The chief guest Sajwan also released Zoo brochure to mark the occasion.

J L Singh, PCCF (WL&BD) and  Chief Wildlife Warden,  Joram Dopum, Deputy Chief Wildlife Warden, and Ex-officio Zoo Director, Biological Park, Curator R Bei also spoke on  the occasion.

Ms B S Sajwan and Ms J L Singh gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners of essay writing, painting competitions organized during the wildlife week.  

Among others, Dr Jumni Rina, headmaster of Govt Middle School, Niti Vihar, Shyam Narayan Singh Yadav and K V Dineshan, both senior teachers of the VKV, Chimpu, Dr Pradeep Chaudhury, CCF, director, SFRI, teachers and students attended the function.

 

Training-cum-Workshop on Disaster Management

PASIGHAT, Oct 9: A one-day workshop on Disaster Response and Emergency Services was organized by the District Relief and Rehabilitation department (DRR), Pasighat at the DC's Conference hall yesterday.

On the occasion, DC O Panyang appreciated the concerned department for conducting the workshop and stressed on capacity building, effective disaster management and the needs of the disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness.

SE (PWD) Er. Atop Lego attended the workshop as resource person. He highlighted the challenges of disaster management and various issues on structural elements.

Earlier, on October 6 workshop, the ADC SC Debnath suggested the department about the pre and post disaster management and informed that Pasighat and Mebo CD Blocks have been chosen for the Block Disaster Management Plan while Namsing, Berung and Sika Tode villages for village plan.

Deputy Director (DM), C. Wanglet and PO (DM) Dr. Nawang Phuntso imparted the knowledge on Disaster management through power-point presentations followed by discussion on Community Based Disaster Risk Management and  the tools and processes involved in DRR.

Later, a documentary on Tibet earth quake was also presented on the occasion.

Two Arunachalee Mountaineers scaled Mount Nepal Peak

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: The success story of Tapi Mra’s Mount Everest Expedition has seriously inspired two more Arunachalee mountaineers.

Nima Lama and Anshu Jamsenpa, who participated in the North East Pre-Everest Expedition to Mount Nepal Peak (7169 metres) of Sikkim Himalayas-2010 along with other 9 members from North Eastern states, have successfully climbed the Mount Nepal Peak recently as a preparation of their Everest expedition which would likely to be held in the next year.

Before scaling the Mount Nepal they participated in North East Zonal Sports Climbing, Imphal, Manipur and National Himalayan Trekking-2009.  They are now participating in the ongoing three days North East Zonal Sports Climbing Competition at Guwahati which will be concluded on October 11.

Further, Nima and Anshu will attend the flag-in ceremony of the first North East Zone Pre- Everest Expedition Mount Nepal which will be held at Manipur on October 16.

Earlier, the first North East Pre-Everest Expedition to Mount Nepal Peak (7169 metres) of Sikkim Himalayas 2010 was flagged off by sports Minister N Biren Singh in the presence of GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen DS Hooda from Manipur.

Meanwhile, Nima and Anshu who are being impressed by the first Arunachalee Everester Tapi Mra’s successful Mount Everest trip also  briefed their experiences and problems during the recently concluded North East Pre-Everest Expedition. They appealed the state government to provide financial help so that they could follow the foot steps of the first Arunachalee Everester Tapi Mra.

Nima and Anshu are the members of Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association and are the first Arunachalee to conquered Mount Nepal. They had done their adventure course from Lamden Manipur in 2009, Basic Mountaineering Course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarakand and later done their advance course from Himalaya Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.

 

ZPM for early restoration of tele connectivity

DIRANG, Oct 9:  Dirang Zilla Parishad Member Dor Tsering has appealed the BSNL general manager to restore tele connectivities of Dirang village particularly of Industrial Training Institute and Sericulture colonies.

While pointing out that tele connectivities of these areas had been lying defunct for the past seven years due to washing away of cable in flash floods, the ZPM said that it is affecting the smooth conduct of training of students at ITI learning communications, electronics and courses in technology. ‘The people of the area comprising 500 inhabitants have also written several times to BSNL authorities and the SDOT Bomdila had given assurances on a number of occasions including in writing for the restoration work but it is yet to happen till this day’, lamented the ZPM. He also appealed the GM to order early restoration of the defunct mobile tower at Dirang village to facilitate better communication. ‘The people of this area are facing acute problem due to lack of communication facilities and we will go to consumer court if BSNL authorities do not take urgent and early remedial measures in the matter’, the ZPM added.

 

PAF constituted

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: The Pharmaceutical Advisory Forum (PAF), an autonomous advisory body of the government of India headed by chemicals and fertilizer minister as chairman, has been reconstituted recently by incorporating three members from each state.

The health minister, the drug controller and a representative of chemist association of each state besides two representatives of consumers to be nominated by respective health department will be the members of the body.

The national members are representatives of All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Indian Drug Manufacturing Association (IDMA), Organization of Pharmaceutical Production Industries (OPPI), among others.

AIOCD president JS Shinde, while informing Arunachal Pradesh Chemists & Druggists Association president Likha Taji, the former ANSU president, about the development, stressed the importance of the Forum and asked Taji to make meaningful contributions through deliberations and suggestions at national level as a PAF member in evolving drug policy, cost effective quality production of medicines and availability of quality essential pharmaceuticals of mass consumption at reasonable price.

The Forum aims at meaningful dialogues among all the stakeholders to achieve the goal in the larger interest of the countrymen.

 

Two-day mega health camp held at Nyapin

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: The Kurung Kumey District Health Society (DHS) has organized a two-day mega health camp at Nyapin on Oct 8 and 9. Around 2500 people from various villages attended the camp.

Besides vaccination, HIV tests and free treatment and medicines were provided to the patients by a team of special doctors from different hospitals of the Capital Complex during the health camp.

Earlier, MLA Mamang Felix while inaugurating the camp stressed the need of mass awareness on HIV/AIDS. He also asked the general people to take full advantage of the health camp. Deputy Commissioner-cum- district health society chairperson emphasized the need to follow the dictum of “prevention is better than cure” and appealed the villagers to maintain health and hygiene in their respective village.

Koloriang DRCHO, panchayat leaders and general public also participated in the inaugural function.

 

Road safety awareness prog

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: In continuation of its awareness campaign the Road Safety Cell PHQ has organized a training programme on safe driving for the drivers and handymen of private school buses of Itanagar at Kingcup Higher Secondary School Itanagar yesterday.

Altogether 47 drivers of school vehicles of Itanagar participated in the training.

PHQ traffic SP Apang Tamut has highlighted the importance of defensive driving and other safety measures on road. The resource persons of the programme also gave special emphasis on safe driving while transporting school children.

Inspector KVG Pillai of Road Safety Cell with his team demonstrated defensive driving technique through power point presentation and highlighted details on road accident and other importance information regarding road safety. Ct Take Sorang, Ct. Md Safruddin and L/ASI J Loya and L/Ct G Gamlin of RSC were among the road safety education team during the training session.

 

APACU pleads for release of arrested orgs leaders

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Corruption Union (APACU) today criticized the state Govt for arresting AIPU, AYA and AVYF leaders.

While urging the Govt to release the leaders, the union  termed the arrest illegal  saying that they are fighting against corruption in the state through democratic means such as bandh call.

The Govt is advocating against bandh culture when the  corruption culture is going on and corrupted people are roaming freely, the union said  and resented  that persons who are fighting against the corruption are detained.

Meanwhile, the union further demanded arrest of all accused in the PDS scam.  If the authorities are unable to take   appropriate action against all those accused, they should hand over the PDS case to CBI for fair investigation, the union added.

 

Copper-T training held

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: Intrauterine Device Insertion training commonly known as Copper-T to layman was organized at District Hospital, Khonsa from 4th to 9th Oct. The training was inaugurated by Dr.S.Ronya, DMO Khonsa. While speaking on the inaugural function Dr. Ronya requested the participants to be sincere and punctual in training session. The participants consisted of ANMs and doctors of the district. Dr. WA Singh SMO of CHC Kanubari was the master trainer. The training consisted of power point presentation, audio-visual show, practical class using JOEY MODEL and pre and post test.

Convener of the training Dr K.Perme, DRCHO Khonsa speaking during the valedictory function thanked the DRCHO Pasighat for providing the Joey Model which is the backbone of the training. He informed the trainees that the IUD insertion rate in the country is only 2% in comparison to China’s 60%. The training is meant to improve this number and thus contributing in the population stabilization. To improve IUD user in the district, he assigned specific target to all the participants for the remaining quarter of the year. DIPRO

ANYA convention

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has decided to organise various games and sports and cultural competitions during its first ever convention to be held at Nyikum Niya Hall, Nirjuli from October 14 to 18.

According to an ANYA release, traditional sports competitions (dapo and bobo) for Chera Talo Memorial Trophy, Volleyball competition for Tania Sala Memorial Trophy, Thunder Thirteen Cricket match for Donyi Dodum Memorial Trophy and folk dance and song competitions for Tadar Tang Memorial Trophy would be organized during the 5-day programme.

Nabam Rebia, Parliamentary Secretary for Industries, will attend the convention as chief guest while all the Nyishi MLAs would be the guests of honour.

 

Saaksar Bharat Committee formed

AALO, Oct 9: A preparatory meeting for constitution of the  Saaksar Bharat committee under Saaksar Bharati Mission  was held at Aalo on Oct 7 last.

While presiding over the meeting, West Siang Deputy Commissioner Amjad Tak said that the Mission was launched particularly to enhance women’s literacy rate.   Stating that  education of women will help to educate the whole society, he sought the support of the PRI members  and NGOs  to make the mission a success.  He also announced the members of the Saaksar Bharat Committee.

ALYSU supports LCDF demand

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: All Lekang Youth and Students Union (ALYSU) has endorsed the demand of the Lohit-Changlang Development Forum for re-notification to issue Permanent Residential Certificates (PRC) to the tribes and communities of Lohit and Changlang with 15 days.

 

Puja vacation

ITANAGAR:  Itanagar, Parmanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court will remain closed from Oct 13 to 31 on account of the Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja celebrations.

However, officers and staff of the registry will attend the office as per roster arrangement except 2nd and 4th Saturday and Sundays, according to a court notification.

 

Reconsider RTI fee

ITANAGAR:  Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Corruption Union (APACU) today appealed the State Information Commission and state Govt to reconsider the decision on information fee under RTI.

Criticizing the authorities for enhancing the information fee from Rs 2 to 10 per page, the APACU said it is against the norms of the RTI and such exorbitant rate will deprive the information seekers of their right.

 

KKDPRCC formed

ITANAGAR: The Kurung Kumey District Panchayati Raj Coordination Committee (KKDPRCC) has been formed in a meeting of all ZPMs, Anchal chairpersons and ASMs of the district at Koloriang on Oct 4 last.  The members unanimously selected Taring Bath as chairman, Bengia Yadek, vice chairman and Tadar Ado as general secretary.

The meeting held under banner of Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Coordination Committee” also  discussed devolution of power, fiannce and functionaries under 29 subjects of the Panchayati Raj.
